The Westing Game
Author: Ellen Raskin
Recommended: Abil
I would recommend an amazing book that is called The Westing Game. The book takes place in Texas, U.S. in a small town, The Westing town. It all starts with a letter and ended with a murderer. The letter said to come to the Westing house, there was a competition: The first one to find out the person that murdered the owner of the house will own the house. There were 16 competitors and one of them was the murder. There were 8 pairs, each pair was given clues. Amber is one of the competitors he is also a friend with a girl named Turtle, throughout the book there are many side stories like a firework bomb which many people suspect Amber of doing. Expect the unexpected, because there many twists and cliff hangers in the book that would surprise you, even drive you to tears. This book is powerful you will be blown away!
Hacker
Author: Malorie Blackman
Recommended by: Kate
In this story, you have to imagine that your dad was accused of stealing £1 million from the bank. What would you do? Help or stay out it? The two main characters are Gib and Victoria. They go on a spectacular adventure trying to solve this mystery. It tested their hacking skills because they could've ended up in as much trouble as their dad . . . or worse! All of their hacking leads to some horrible things. You never know if they can get out of this sticky trail of lies. I never suspected the true hackers of this crime. Think long and hard about it. This book is my favourite book. I would read over and over again, but never get bored of it. I think the author does a great job of descriptive writing and has a lot of descriptive words. I love mystery books and I think that’s her style of writing according to all the other books she has written. This book is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to read more. Once you've started reading it, it's impossible to put down. Believe me, it'll be worth every Penney. Go out to your local bookstore now and buy a copy of Hacker before they run out!

Do you know what it's like to be away from home? Or be kidnapped? Well, Best Mate knows how it feels. I would recommend this book because it is an amazing, and lovely story, even though it is very sad. It is about a dog that lives in a happy home and loves his owner, but one day he goes outside with his owner. He runs down the hill faster than a horse galloping in a race and a dog racer catches him.
Best Mate is very kind, and helpful, also he is fast. The dog racer notices this when he comes sprinting down the hill. So, the dog racer kidnaps Best Mate. Another skill Best Mate has is fitting into new places. Best Mate is moved to many places along the way and he meets many friends, all of which love him. From here he goes on a wild journey, like a roller coaster, full of many ups and downs. He proves that not only cats have nine lives. But will he find a welcoming, happy home ever again?

When You Reach Me
Author: Rebecca Stead
Recommended by: Melanie
When you reach me is very exciting and adventurous book. It is about a girl called Miranda. She lives with her parents and has a best friend Sal. They'd been together for almost all their life. One day walking home together as always, Sal got punched in the stomach by one of the boys in front the garage. Sal ran and ran. Miranda couldn't catch up, and when she got to Sal's apartment, she was shut out. That's when Miranda got her first note. She was very confused and didn't know whom it was from. She kept thinking and days went by. Miranda was lonely and puzzled. Sal managed to hangout with other boys and take his mind off what happened, but Miranda couldn't stop thinking about it. The next day, she met a girl called Anna Marie, she says she upset and was in a fight with her best friend Julia, so Miranda invited her to sit with her at lunch. They became best of friends and walked to and from school everyday. Eventually she found out who hit Sal, Marcus. He said he had done it for a reason, to see his reaction. Miranda and Marcus started to have little conversations. Miranda then started to fine more notes. A few days later, when Miranda and Marcus were talking, they saw Sal. Marcus started to chase him and try and tell me he was sorry but Sal kept running, past the boys in front of the garage, the laughing man and finally at the last block, there was a truck heading his way. Everyone tried to warn him, but he never heard. This is a great book, read it to fine out what happens to Sal and see if Miranda finds out who is writing her notes.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Author: J.K.Rowling
Recommended by: Tara
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a very tense book full of surprises. It starts as Harry waking up from a dark nightmare of his enemy, Lord Voldemort. Voldemort is the one who killed his parents when Harry was so young and little. Harry's life is very hard because of these deaths that have happened. The only place that Harry feels safe is at his school, Hogwarts. But, this year at Hogwarts Harry doesn't even know who he can trust! Everything seems so different and new. Harry doesn't know what to do!
The book is successful in so many different ways! First of all, there are so many mysteries in the book that you need to figure out. It never gives you answers until the very end! Even though the book is fiction it all seems very real. Of course nobody can fly on brooms and cast spells, but with all the details in the book you feel like it's all possible! The setting of the book is in Hogwarts. In some parts of the book Harry goes to a dark and scary forest! And that is why I love this book so much!
Cool

Robbie is in the hospital. His dog died, everything is falling apart. For my book recommendation I chose Cool because it is very sad and emotional. Another reason why I chose this book was because I adore Michael Morpurgo. The story takes place is modern time, and the town that Robbie and his mother is living in is in a normal town with a school, a park and a nice neighborhood. Robbie is a nice lonely boy with a kind mother and a divorced father. The story starts out with this boy called Robbie who has a dog called Lucky. Lucky is his favorite 'person/animal' on earth. His mom and dad are divorced and always argue with each other. One day Robbie had enough and wanted to go out into the park with his dog, like he does everyday, but that very day, something happened. Something bad, something that could determine whether its life or death. No one and nothing can get Robbie back to life, the longer he is in the hospital with his serious sickness, the less chance there is for him to stay alive. What should he do? What are the parents going to do? If you want to find out what happens to Robbie and his broken family, you have to read the book!
Eragon
Author: Christopher Paolini
Recommended by: Clara
Eragon is an amazing example of fantasy/action which deeply intrigues you while you read and each chapter just captures you more and more. By the way it's written, I would say that the most likely readers for this book would be kids who really like reading brand new books, and what I mean about that is that I love starting books where in the first 1-5 pages are so confusing that you want to give up and start another book. I can tell this is a fantasy series because in the world Eragon lives, there are also ogres, trolls, and dragons! I also think that it's kind of political, because the main motivation of the series is the democracy of The Good and The Evil. I also think that it's an action series because it talks about war and when they actually do it, it gets somewhat gross while the author describes every single detail of what's happening.
The main character of this book is Eragon and he lives in a poor farm in a small village with his uncle and older brother because his parents disappeared a few years ago for a mysterious reason. One day, while Eragon was hunting wild boar for dinner, he saw something that may change his way of thinking forever....
