Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader is a program that helps you check your level of understanding of the books you read independently. A.R. provides a short quiz for most of the books middle school students are reading. The comprehension questions are based on the plot, setting, events and characters in the story. Most quizzes have ten questions but the number could range from five to twenty. After you have read a book just log in to the program, search by title or author, click on Reading Practice Quiz and answer the multiple-choice questions. You can take the quizzes anytime on your home computer, your iPad, the library or computer lab.
Please see this document for the Accelerated Reader Program Login information.
You can look up a book yourself to see if there is a quiz available. The website is: www.arbookfind.com
Type in the title or you can use the Advanced Search tab to search by author. You will also find information about the approximate reading and interest level of the book. IL stands for Interest Level. MG or MG+ refer to Middle Grades. BL stands for Book Level and refers to the approximate reading level of the book. A Book Level of 5.0 to 5.9 means it is at the reading level of most fifth grade students. The IL and BL measures are just guidelines. Please do not feel like you need to look up every book before you start reading, or that you can only read books with a BL in the 5.0 range. On the other hand, if most of your books have a BL in the 2.0 or 3.0 range, you may want to consider choosing books that are closer to your reading level.
